Holistic Nutritionist Lynn Ogryzlo wants everyone to know that what they put on their fork and into their mouth is the single most important thing we do every day. From food writer to holistic nutritionist, Ogryzlo has spent years eating from the orchards, fields, and gardens of the Niagara region inherently knowing that eating from the land is the healthiest way to eat, now she knows why and she’s developed a wellness eating program called, FOOD 101, an introduction to medicine that tastes good.
The 5-week, FOOD 101 program is the latest program at the Optimal Wellness Niagara Clinic (OWN) in St Catharines. In fact, OWN is the only clinic in Niagara with a fully functional, teaching kitchen and Lynn is the Program Director in charge of culinary education.
Dr. Stephen Tripodi, owner of OWN explains, “the purpose of FOOD 101 is to teach people the basics about eating well and understanding how different foods work differently in your body so you can affect changes in weight, obesity, diabetes, autoimmune disorders and many chronic diseases.”
FOOD 101 is a 5-week program that includes four lectures on how your body works when you eat, what foods to eat to promote wellness and which habits create health issues, four cooking classes, and a private nutritional counseling session(appointment to be set at first class). All participants will learn how to eat healthy and design their own unique, nutritious eating and lifestyle plan that suits their health goals and lifestyle. Essentially, participants are in charge of designing their own healthy eating plan. It’s the best of Personalized Nutrition and a great start to a healthier lifestyle.
Ogryzlo predicts the health revolution we desperately need today will happen in the kitchen because eating for wellness can be transformative. It can improve overall health and that means different things to different people. For some it could mean weight loss, reduced inflammation, improved blood sugar levels, stronger immunity, and vibrant energy. For others it could mean thinking clearer, remembering more, feeling happier and even experiencing a mild state of euphoria.
FOOD 101 is an educational, evidence-based, scientific, sustainable and holistic approach that people can use to make significant changes towards optimal health. Participants can expect to be presented with the knowledge necessary to make lifestyle changes that can improve their health.

Wellness is not about perfection. It’s about intention and effort. When you bring that intention and effort into every single day, that’s where transformation happens. That’s how change occurs.
